Fondazione GIMEMA Onlus

Fondazione Gruppo Italiano Malattie Ematologiche dell'Adulto Onlus (GIMEMA)

GIMEMA (Gruppo Italiano Malattie EMatologiche dell’Adulto) is a non-profit research organisation, with a long-standing history of successful research in patients with haematological diseases (www.gimema.it). It mainly consists of a Data Centre based in Rome (Italy) and an affiliated network of some 150 haematology centres throughout the country (including University and Community based-hospitals). This large research network of GIMEMA centres is a substantial strength of the GIMEMA organization when operating national and international projects. GIMEMA has been conducting pivotal clinical trials in various disease sites and its research findings have been published in high impact medical journals including Blood and the New England Journal of Medicine. Prof. Franco Mandelli is the President of GIMEMA and the scientific leadership is run by eight research Working Parties (WP), each of which is dedicated to implementing and managing studies in a specific haematological disease site. Each WP is chaired and co-chaired by well known international experts in their specific area of research.
